Happy Halloween

I spent my Halloween sorting through amaing boxes of yarn that I purchased months ago and never had a chance to examine. If I only had the time to list them all. I bought about 30 apple and banana boxes full of vintage yarns. Most of them are European wools, mohairs and other natural fibers including cashmere. I can't wait to dive into them again. Hopefully, I have the chance to list them all soon. That means having a huge "Yarn Sale" in my shop.  http://inwiththeoldvintage.etsy.com/.

I was able to take my 2 yr. old trick or treating for the 1st time.  I missed last year because I was at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, TX. We had a blast . She caught on pretty quick. At first she refused to wear her costume, but when she found out there was candy involved, she couldn't get in it fast enough.
I took the time to make her costume, since I missed out last year. She went as a flower fairy. We also decorated the house with homemade ghosts, jack-o-lanterns and monster hands. Max sat quietly through most of the commotion. We skipped the costume this year since he's only 2 months old. He did seem to enjoy wearing Kate's hairband though. All in all, it was a great few days leading up to Halloween.

Well, back to listing new items.  Goodbye for now.

Welcome Baby Max and Happy Birthday Kate!

It has been an incredibly busy few months. My husband and I welcomed a new baby boy into the family and my baby girl turned two. Little Max could not be more precious. He arrived in August and truly has been an angel, even letting mommy get some work done. Now if he could just learn to work the computer, business would start booming.

Kate had a wonderful second birthday. We celebrated at the house with lots of friends and family. Keeping it simple as always, "Ha Ha Ha" (anyone who knows me, is aware of my inability to keep a party simple and easy), Kate had an Elmo cooking party per her request. The kids each got their own chef hat and had the chance to make their own pizza, decorate cupcakes and make edible fishbowls with their very own Dorothy (Elmo's pet goldfish). The cake was a hit and I had a blast making it. It was a chance to experiment with fondant for the first time.
Thanks to everyone who joined us and made her day so special.

I will be posting more regularly now that life is starting to become more manageable.

It's Been A While....

Life has been a bit crazy these past few weeks and unfortunately I let my new blog fall to the wayside. There are so many things I would love to share with everyone and I'm sure I'll get to all of it eventually.

Spring Brimfield is only 14 days away, yeah!!!!!! This is my favorite antique show of the year and as it will be my last until who knows when, I'm enjoying the anticipation even more. I hate to give it up, but with baby # 2 arriving in Aug. I won't be able to attend for the rest of the season. So, I guess I'll have to really make this one count.

For those of you who have never visited the Brimfield Antique Show, it is the largest antique show in the country, boasting over 4000 vendors. This amazing show takes place 3 times a year (May, August and September) in a sleepy little town in MA. You can find all the information you need at http://brimfieldexchange.com/index.asp. Hopefully I'll have time to upload some photos while I'm there so you can all share in the experience. It is truly an amazing place to be, whith shoppers and vendors from all over the world.

If you plan on attending, visit me on the main driveway at Shelton's. Our opening is Tues. May 12th at 6AM.

I guess that's all for today, work is calling.

It's been a great few days!

I don't know where to start first. By the way, the next few lines will be me tooting my own horn, so feel free to fast forward. Tuesday I had an item featured in The Storque article "How To Tuesday: Snuggle Up With a Bedtime Duvet." Then today, much to my surprise, I made it into a wonderful treasury called "Fruity Fun." To top off this glorious day, "Sparkle Power" a really great blog, honored me with a place in their "Etsy Finds Friday." Here are all the links so you can see for yourself.

Onto life outside of Etsy and the internet. Today we had a wonderful Easter Dinner at my Aunt and Uncles house. It was a bit of a zoo with 9 children under the age of 7 running around. Kate participated in her first Easter egg hunt and collected three whole eggs. I was impressed considering she was the only novice in the hunt.

I'd say all-in-all it was a pretty great day for the McCabe clan.

Will I ever get the hang off this?

It's 3am and I can't sleep after too much time on-line. All I could dream about was flashing webpages and I couldn't keep up. So of course I get out of bed and log on again.

I entered my first chat room tonight. Everyone on Etsy says it's important for promoting yourself.
Boy was I lost. My husband laughed at me as he watched me struggle, it was a bit funny. It seemed impossible to follow a conversation let alone join one. I stuck to browsing everyones shops and posting a few items I liked. I guess blogging to myself at 3AM is more my speed. Kind of sad.

Maybe soon I'll get the hang of all this "new fangled" technology. LOL.
Goodnight All

The First Post From My Home to Yours

Well, here I go...

My name is Courtney McCabe. First and formost I am a mother to my beautiful daughter Katherine. I also run a small business out of my home selling vintage and antique textiles. It has been a passion of mine for over 10 years. I began shortly after college and never looked back.

My blog will be dedicated to sharing my knowledge of antiques and where to buy them, fabulous finds I make, friends and antiques dealers from all over the country and promoting my new on-line business. (Talk about a run on sentence, whoo. Sorry!) All this while raising a soon to be expanding family.

I guess that all for now., Kate's nap time has come to an end. I hope you enjoy what I have to say in the future.

Wishing all of my friends in Round Top a great show. WishI could be there with you.
